About Us

I started hairdressing in 1972 and after spending a year as a stylist onboard a Greek cruise ship I returned home and opened my own business in 1979.

The original salon was called Raffles and changed to Janet Maitland Hair Excellence in 2002. The group now has 2 salons and a consultancy/ training business.



During the last 12 months we’ve celebrated our 30th year in business by continuing our exciting journey with even more enthusiasm from the team. The results are amazing !

• The formation of the Janet Maitland Creative Team – they have shown great energy ,creativity, dedication and focus. I wanted the best for my team and I’m pleased to say they’ve had the thrill of winning major awards this year.

 

• Caring for others and surrounding myself with people of the same values has meant that together we could - Put a well into an African village school for orphans of aids who previously had to walk 30minutes to get a drink

 

• Raise £1000.00 for stray dogs in Durham and collect blankets.

 

• Give hundreds of pounds worth of prizes to local good causes

The charity walks ,late night photo shoots and hours of perfecting stage craft were the perfect way for us to commemorate & celebrate our extra ordinary 30 years .

To all of our clients, models, manufacturers David the photographer, Vikki on make-up all our team - thank you so much for a celebration which has lasted 12 months (Janet’s style!).

Sandra Snowdon Hairdressing Icon 30 Years Celebration.

To celebrate Sandara's 30th year in company we held a candle lit dinner in the Radisson Blu hotel in Durham, and a big surprise at the end of the evening was a tribute Sandra's career in hairdressing at Janet Maitland with a viewing of the following DVD.
